I'll be honest, I wasn't the best reader growing up. I was "that kid" who had to get pulled out of class for extra help. Reading seemed to come so naturally to my peers, meanwhile I couldn't figure out why the word "enough" did not have the letter "f" in it. From books about mice who eat cookies to textbooks about American history, nothing clicked for years. Until...

The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants series changed my life. Laugh all you want, but I picked up the first book for a summer reading challenge at the library and couldn't put it down. Before I knew it, I developed advanced reading skills, ultimately helping me graduate magna cum laude from NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study: a liberal arts program known for its rigorous reading and writing program.

 

The secret ingredient to my reading success? A strong story.

Strong stories helped me think big. Be someone else. Imagine a new world. Discover the unknown. But most importantly, instill a sense of empathy and love for human connection within me.

 

I spent the rest of my adolescence hungry for content, visiting the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre or Joffrey Ballet, binging Once Upon a Time with my mom, and spending weeknights writing scripts in my bedroom.

This love for entertainment inspired a desire to create stories that would change other people's lives, propelling me into a career as a professional storyteller in three spaces: producing, writing, and marketing. ​ ​
