Cabaret
Producer
Willkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome to 1930s Berlin: a world where allure triumphs, morality is in question, and time is fleeting.
As the Producer & President of Tisch New Theatre, I had the opportunity to lead a talented team through a stage adaptation of "Cabaret" at the West End Theatre.
"Cabaret" follows two pairs of lovers — cabaret singer Sally Bowles & novelist Clifford Bradshaw alongside Fraulein Schneider & Herr Schultz — on the verge of a cultural transformation as the rise of an extremist political party overtakes the existing Weimar Republic. For our production, we emphasized the slow boil behind the rise in antisemitism in 1930s Berlin alongside amplifying the show's underlying ties to the LGBTQ+ community. At a time when hate in our country is at an all-time high, producing "Cabaret" today acts as a cautionary tale for those who choose to remain complacent or ignorant in the face of discrimination.
As the Producer & President of the organization, I led a company of over 120 people, requiring me to wear many hats. Raising capital through benefit concerts and sponsorship deals, devising a marketing strategy, reviewing contracts, and managing a budget, I developed a vocabulary to communicate with both the creative and business sides of the production.
This production of "Cabaret" had 11 performances and over 800 seats, all of which sold out in under 12 days. The show had a 100% return on expenses.
